Put your razor and wax away and say hello to smooth touchable skin. Laser hair removal is a no downtime and highly effective solution for removal of unwanted facial and body hair.
Delivered via the Palomar system it is the safest and most effective medical device available for the permanent destruction of hair follicles. The number of treatments is determined by thickness and color of hair, hormone levels, and hair growth cycles.
Like a laser, the Palomar tip works to selectively damage hair follicles by transforming light energy into heat which damages the cells responsible for hair growth. Since the light emitted selectively targets the hair follicle, damage to the surrounding skin is minimized.
Minimize Sun exposure – It is important no to have any tan on your skin. This includes self-tanning creams. Please wear sunscreen when outdoors. No plucking or waxing – to treat the hair, it must be in the hair follicle. Please do not remove the hair for at least 2-3 weeks prior to treatment. Shave the day of the Treatment – The hair must be at the skin level in order for the most light and heat absorption into the hair follicle.
Safety glasses will be worn during the treatment. A light lotion will be applied to the area and you will feel multiple hot pulses. People have described this as feeling light a hot rubber band snapping your skin.
In general, laser hair removal involves little to no downtime. The area(s) you had treated may be red or sensitive shortly after treatment; however, this tends to fade quickly. Side effects are minimal and include swelling, welts and redness, and a hot or warm sensation for 1-4 hours post-treatment.
Over the next couple weeks and with subsequent treatments, you should notice less hair growing. Often patients will have “touch-ups” yearly or more or less frequently depending on individual hair growth. Laser hair removal is proven to reduce terminal hair growth by 75-90%
